Ames Miyako (they/them/theirs) is an actor and writer based in Los Angeles. A Queer Lebanese-Japanese-American-Canadian, Ames’ work brings nuance, comedy, and a touch of surrealism to the unpolished stories of who and how we are.

Their acting work spans across television, film, commercial, theatre, voiceover, applied theatre. They’ve performed voiceover for National Public Radio, were seen on NBC’s Lincoln Rhyme as “Autumn Besser”, and numerous independent films/series. On stage, they have performed in NYC Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway, in Los Angeles, as well as internationally in Canada, The UK, and The Czech Republic.

Ames’s screenwriting was recognized by the 2024 Seattle Film Festival, earning a nomination of Best Short Screenplay (Submitted) for Checking Out. Checking Out is Ames’s first film as a screenwriter/filmmaker, and had it’s world premiere at the Academy Award, BAFTA, and Canadian Screen Award-qualifying 2025 LA Shorts International Film Festival.

They are a graduate of Columbia University’s MFA Acting program and a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors Equity Association.

Ames also is a body-neutral Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist and has been featured by Fabletics Fit, PopSugar Fitness, and Everybody Los Angeles VOD. They love a good hike and one day will bring their leash-trained cat Jasper up a mountain with them… if he ever agrees.
